Manta SOUND 2 Review: My Experience After Two Weeks

Disclosure: Manta Sleep gave me this mask at no charge and requested nothing in return. The opinions here are my own, based on about two weeks of use. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

I wanted to try the Manta SOUND 2 for a simple reason: I sleep better in total darkness. I’ve now been using it for about two weeks, both overnight and for the occasional nap.

My experience has been positive overall. The blackout is very good, the sound quality is decent, and the mask is comfortable. Being able to sleep on my side with it on is something I especially like. There is some pressure around my eyes, though, so the fit isn’t completely pressure-free for me.

The quick takeaway

  • Used for: about two weeks, overnight and for naps.
  • Best parts: strong blackout, side sleeping and a fit that stays in place.
  • Trade-off: some pressure around my eyes.
  • Charging: about once a week in my routine.
  • Would I buy it? Yes, at the current $159 price.

Blackout: the reason I wanted to try it

Total darkness matters to me, and this is where the Manta SOUND 2 has stood out. It feels very blacked out when I’m wearing it. That’s the main thing I wanted from a sleep mask, whether I’m using it overnight or taking a nap.

The audio is decent

I’d describe the sound quality as decent. I’ve also had no Bluetooth interruptions during these two weeks. The connection has been reliable in my use so far.

Comfort and sleeping on my side

It’s really nice being able to sleep on my side with the mask on. It also stays in place. Overall, I find it comfortable, which matters when I’m wearing it overnight rather than just trying it on for a few minutes.

The fit could be a little better around my eyes. Even after adjustment, I notice some pressure on both my back and my side. It isn’t enough to make the mask uncomfortable for me, but it’s the part I’d still like improved.

Battery life in my routine

I’ve been charging the mask about once a week. In my routine, the battery works for roughly a week between charges. That describes my charging routine; it doesn’t tell you how many hours of continuous audio playback you’ll get.

A few things to know before buying

  • Audio comes from a connected Bluetooth device; the mask has no built-in sound library.
  • It does not have active noise cancellation.
  • Manta advertises 24 hours of battery life at full volume. That is the manufacturer’s rating, separate from my weekly charging routine.

After two weeks, I’m happy with the mask overall. It does the thing I wanted most: gives me a very dark environment while still letting me sleep comfortably on my side.

Would I spend my own money on the Manta SOUND 2?

Yes. Manta lists the SOUND mask at $159 USD as of October 11, 2026, and based on my experience so far, I would spend my own money on it. It isn’t a small purchase for a sleep mask. For me, the strong blackout, decent sound and comfortable side sleeping make it worth considering.

I’d recommend it to people who work overnights and need a comfortable sleep mask, or anyone who wants total darkness. My experience so far comes from using it overnight and for occasional naps.

If you only want light blocking and won’t use the audio, it makes sense to consider a simpler mask before spending $159. If you want both features, my experience with the SOUND 2 has been positive. Just keep the fit in mind: comfortable overall hasn’t meant completely pressure-free around my eyes.
